The Region

The province of Salta is located in the northwest of the Argentine Republic, limits with Bolivia the north, Chile to the west and Paraguay to the east.

It is characterized by a great geographic and climatic heterogeneity since the territory expands from the volcanic mountain range to the Puna in the west, from subtropical heat to the forest of the east, combined with fertile fresh valleys, mountainous chains and rivers.

The orographic and climatic heterogeneity conforms different geographic regions that they constitute five units with there respective climates, flora and particular fauna. The following are Puna or Plateau, the Eastern Mountain range, the Andean Mountain ranges, the Pampenas Mountain ranges and the Chaqueña Plain.

The west region of the province is geographically characterized for being a plain of high altitude of more than 3800 meters , covered between the mountain range of the Andes, to the limit with Chile and mountains of the Eastern mountain range, called the pre-mountain range. This mountainous system locks up valleys and gorges, like for example the Calchaquí Valley, of important tourist relevance.

In the central zone there is a valley landscape with nice weather, where the main agricultural land and population are located in significant concentrations.
To the north the mountain forest extends. The great rivers and thermal water extend to the east until a subtropical climatic plain.

The average temperature in the summer is 20°C, in autumn and winter 13°C, July being the coldest month. Spring the temperature is 18°C. The annual average precipitation is of 630 mm is in the summer season.

Due to the great geographic diversity and the beautiful scenery, we have found the province of Salta to be the best place to make the sport activities that we propose.
