If you are looking for one of the best hiking tours in the Northwest of Argentina, search no further! The Hiking Tour Torreon de la Cuesta is the perfect trip for you!
In this incredible hike, we will find cave paintings, part of the Inca Trail, high altitude mountains, condors, campsites with a sky full of stars, a lot of adventure and easy-going guides!
Ready, set…walk!
We will start our hike through ancient paths. As we gain altitude, we will be able to appreciate the magnitude of this place.
After a few hours of trekking, we will reach a perfectly conserved part of the old Inca Trail. Here, we will have a snack and enjoy the magnificent views around us.
Back on track, we will reach the Mirador del Condor, a high altitude meadow above 3.000 m.a.s.l. covered with tender grass and flowers during our rainy season. This is the perfect spot to watch condors flying wildly in their natural environment.
In the afternoon, we will arrive to the caves, where we will set our camp and prepare everything to spend the night. For dinner, we have a very special menu: Argentinian barbeque!
We start our morning with a great country-style breakfast. After preparing ourselves for a new hike, we will walk to the base of the Torreon Hill, from where we will have amazing panoramic views. From here, we will be able to see the entire Cuesta del Obispo, have a snack to regain energy, and of course, enjoy this spectacular view.
If the weather and our energy allows to, we will try to reach the Summit of this Hill, which is above 3.400 m.a.s.l. At the top, we will be able to spend a moment enjoying the view, contemplating the immensity and experiencing this privileged spot with all our five senses.
After lunch, we will return to our campsite to enjoy the afternoon and rest for the night.
After breakfast, we will start our hike to Toroyaco Valley, a place where colorful formations in the mountains and a vast quantity of condors can be found.
When we return, we will undo our campsite, have lunch and start our way back to Salta, walking through the ancient Inca Trail, to the bottom of the Cuesta del Obispo: this is a very narrow valley with heavy vegetation and a very particular geology.
At midday, we will reach our support vehicles and drive back to Salta, where our adventure will be over.
